Nothing is, or should be more important to a serious breeding operation than acquiring great broodmares. By great, I mean they should be as well bred as you can acquire. Proven lines, not just their sire and dam, but traced back for five generations on both the top, and bottom sides of the pedigree. The resulting foals you produce can be affected by horses having a reach as far back as five generations!

In addition, nothing is more important in a great horse than a great mind. Momma mares impart that most critical attitude to their babies. If you have a great minded mare she likely will produce a great minded baby. We have always understood that athletic ability, confirmation, and color, is of secondary importance to a good work ethic (great mind). There's a sage old expression that goes; attitude is #1 and will ultimately prove the value of your breeding program.
