Shes A Levi :: Scribbles :: Miss No Strike

Our beautiful Emma Jean was foaled on February 12, 1991 in Cumming, Georgia. Bred by Vic Mathews. The filly was officially registered as Miss No Strike. As a yearling she was put through a high profile pleasure horse sale in Georgia where she was purchased by Californian, Nancy Wheeler-Smith out of Bakersfield.

Miss No Strike (Emma Jean) was sired by the great Diversified who was a four time AQHA World Champion, claiming two AQHA world titles in Western Pleasure then won two additional AQHA World titles in Halter Stallions, an incredibly rare accomplishment.

Emma Jean's dam, Struck By Heir, was an AQHA Reserve World Champion, claiming the title in the Halter Mares division. Struck By Heir was by AQHA World Halter Champion, Son And Heir.

Trained for the NSBA Pleasure Futurities circuit, Emma Jean, as a two year old, won the Silver Dollar Circuit in Las Vegas, Nevada. It was shortly after this win that Emma was injured and sustained a fractured hip. During 1997 she had been in rehab and scheduled to restart her show career when I stepped in, and asked if she were for sale. I will be forever grateful to Nancy for giving me the opportunity to own such a sweet, gorgeous, talented, well bred mare.

My sole intent in acquiring Emma was to breed her to Zippo Pine Chip exclusively. And what a producer Emma turned out to be. As was their dam and sire, so were the offspring. All beautiful, talented athletes, who had tremendous versatility, and then went on to prove their merits in the show arena.

When the ApHC changed the CPO program in 2000 I was extremely disappointed and wasn't willing to risk a solid colored baby. In that light, I had promised Nancy when she originally agreed to sell Emma to me, that I would send her back to Bakersfield if my circumstances changed in any way, or I didn't wish to keep breeding the mare for any reason.

True to our word, Nancy and I agreed that I should ship Emma back to Bakersfield where an elated Nancy had plans to breed her the following spring.

All seemed well. Emma went full term with no problems and delivered a healthy foal. But tragically, during the birthing process Emma prolapsed. Further complications arose and our beloved Emma Jean succumbed. An incredibly tragic loss for all concerned; I miss her still, and will never get over my losing her for all time. God took back a great one.

Emma produced 4 foals while I had her in my care. He offspring earned incredibly diverse titles in Western & English Pleasure, Speed Events, Jumping and combined training.
